The University of Tlemcen's Rector, Prof. MEGHACHOU Mourad, oversaw the celebration of National Immigration Day on October 17, 1961, at the Faculty of Human Sciences and Social Sciences, in presence of members of the university community and the revolutionary family.
The events has been started by execution of The national anthem and the reading of the verses from the Holy Quran. Followed by a speech of the rector on this occasion, and a conference on the October 17 massacres has been also presented by teacher ELGHAZI Khadidja from history department.
The participants observed a moment of silence for the Shuhada killings of October 17, 1961, at 11:00.
In fact, the revolutionary family representative gave a speech about the genocides committed during colonization, and a brief historical documentary was also shown.
At the same time as remembering the events on October 17, Mudjahid BENALI Bousdir was honored.
